Enfield Council has approved plans for Surf London paving the way for the capital’s first inland surfing lake at the Lee Valley Leisure Complex.

The project, led by Crest Experiences (formerly The Wave Group), which is renowned for creating the successful inland surfing destination in Bristol, will transform part of the Lee Valley golf course into a state-of-the-art artificial surfing lake.

The development is expected to create up to 200 jobs, boost the local economy and establish Enfield as a surfing destination for visitors from across London and beyond.

Alongside the surfing facility, the project will bring major upgrades to the Leisure Complex, including a new park and an activity zone featuring a sports court, parkour area, a purpose-built track for cycling, and skate bowl.

The Cabinet Member for Environment and Placemaking at Enfield Council, Cllr Sabri Ozayddin, said:
“We are committed to investing in Enfield and we are overjoyed that private companies share our passion to build a stronger borough. This investment into our borough will bring jobs, new leisure facilities for local families and residents, and hopefully more domestic tourism. This is a fantastic facility coming to Enfield and will offer a unique attraction unlike any other borough in London.

“Our residents will benefit from this development as Surf London will lead to the improvement of the Lee Valley Leisure Complex, offering a new park for Enfield.”

The plans also include a new clubhouse with a café, shops and wellbeing areas, as well as brand new camping accommodation with play spaces.
