Enfield Council will be supporting and recognising the heroic people who work for the NHS and the emergency (blue light) services on national Emergency Services Day.
Cllr Gina Needs, Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Enforcement at Enfield Council, said: “In Enfield, Emergency Services Day will be commemorated on Sunday 7 September, as we celebrate the invaluable work of the incredible people who work for and run our emergency services 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
“Emergency Services Day takes place across the nation every September and exists to educate and highlight the importance of using and contacting the emergency services responsibly.
“It’s also an excellent opportunity for those working within the 999 service to meet residents in the local communities they are based.
“I am very much looking forward to meeting workers from our local blue light services at a special event that will be held at Enfield Civic Centre on Sunday 7 September at 11am.
“I would like to invite you and your families and friends to come and join us as we give thanks and recognise all those who work around the clock to keep us safe.
“To coincide with Emergency Services Day, we have teamed up with Enfield Market and Palace Gardens Shopping Centre who will be hosting family friendly Emergency Services Day related events from 12pm to 4pm on Sunday 7 September, so come and join us.
“At Enfield Council, we have a positive and close working relationship with workers in the emergency services.
“Council employees working in social services, transport and highways, public health and many other areas have almost daily contact with the NHS and emergency services teams, to ensure local people are protected and are looked after.
“I would encourage residents and recent school leavers to consider a future career working for one of the emergency services and investigate the current opportunities available. There are also many volunteering opportunities available on the NHS.
“Approximately two million people work across the NHS and Emergency Services today and many are volunteers, without whom the emergency services could not operate effectively.
“We will be proudly flying the Emergency Services flag outside Enfield Civic Centre to show our support and respect for our local blue light heroes.”
