Alma Estate Regeneration reaches an exciting milestone

The ribbon cutting of the Alma Playground

Residents of the Alma Estate and the wider Ponders End community are celebrating an important milestone in the ongoing Alma Estate Regeneration Scheme with the opening of a brand-new play area for young people.

The new playground, located at the heart of the regeneration area, is the latest addition to the Alma Estate Regeneration Scheme, a joint initiative between Enfield Council and Countryside Partnerships, part of the Vistry Group, to deliver high-quality new homes and improved community infrastructure to create a neighbourhood where people want to live, play, learn and work.

The delivery of the playground, is key to the vision which seeks to create spaces throughout the neighbourhood for all to enjoy. The playground opening marks a key milestone for the project, which has already delivered 679 homes, 444 of which are affordable homes, a vibrant new youth centre and a medical centre alongside a new community centre which is due to open later in the year.

The playground was officially opened by Cllr Ayten Guzel, cabinet member for Housing who was accompanied by Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, cabinet member for Environment and Placemaking and other partners who have worked closely with the Council on this project.
