Turkey-Syria earthquake disaster

Enfield has a large and vibrant community from Turkey and the surrounding region. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the recent earthquakes.

Enfield Council and local community groups are helping to aid the provision of support to those affected.

The best way to support these aid efforts is to give financial donations, if you can, to registered charities or NGOs.

Below are details of fundraising pages. Any donation, big or small, will help with the emergency response which could include water and sanitation provision, shelter and food support as well as assistance with longer-term rehabilitation efforts.

There has been an incredible response from Enfield of items at donation points across the borough. Many of these collection points have reached full capacity and are unable to take further items.

Several Enfield community organisations are also collecting monetary donations. Please donate to those if they are organisations that you recognise and trust.

How Enfield Council can help you

We are also aware of the impact that the disaster is having on Enfield’s local communities. People visiting friends and relatives in Enfield may now find themselves unable to return home.

We have set up a dedicated resource within our Refugee Support Team to provide advice and support. This can include housing related matters, family support, mental health and help with accessing other relevant services.

We can provide support in the following areas:

  • Homeless or under the threat of homelessness
  • Assistance with accessing mental health services
  • Linking into local voluntary agencies/charities
  • Help with contacting your relevant Embassy/Consulates in the UK. (Information on family members abroad)

If you are in contact with people affected by the disaster who need support, please can you ask them to contact us using the details below:
