Details
The project aims to reduce flooding affecting nearby homes and to upgrade the existing playground. It will also support broader environmental improvements. The proposal included the following enhancements to the site and surrounding area:
- Upgrading the existing play equipment while keeping the playground’s key features
- Adding natural play elements, such as stepping logs and boulders, to encourage imaginative and active play
- Creating new footpaths, including gently sloping ramps and steps, to improve accessibility and strengthen connections with nearby homes
- Lowering the playground’s ground level to help reduce localised flooding and improve step‑free access for disabled users and those with pushchairs
- Enhancing the landscape through new shrub planting and additional trees
- Removing obstructive features, such as railings, to create a more open, accessible and welcoming community space
