Contacting us by phone or visiting us in person

We provide a text relay service for people who are D/deaf, hearing impaired or have a speech impediment.

If you contact us before your visit we can arrange a sign language translator or other support to help you complete the service in person.

We can provide a British Sign Language interpreter if it is needed. The British Sign Language interpreter can contact Enfield Council staff on your behalf to help with any enquires you may have. Video content

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations. We also have some existing pre-recorded video content that was published before 23 September 2020. This content is also exempt from the regulations.

PDF and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Online maps

Our service includes the use of online maps to show certain geographical information. These are not used for navigational purposes and are exempt under the regulations. If you require the information presented in an online map in a different format, please contact us to discuss reasonable adjustments.

Third party sites

We link to third party applications and external websites. We cannot guarantee that they are AA compliant, including on social media sites.

Testing and auditing

We regularly check our website's accessibility weekly using Reachdeck's Accessibility Auditor automated testing tool. Additional testing is carried out by the Enfield Council web team using a combination of manual and automated testing tools. Issues are reported to our supplier immediately for resolution.
