Transfer to secondary school - September 2023
Places at Enfield secondary schools were allocated in line with the published admissions criteria for each school. To read the criteria, view your guide to secondary schools in Enfield.
Accepting your offer
If you applied online and received your allocation by email, you should accept your place by 15 March 2023 using your eAdmissions account. We advise that you accept the place even if you want to pursue a different school, either through the waiting list or appeals process.
For information about oversubscribed community schools, academies and free schools, and the furthest distances we offered places, see secondary transfer 2023 allocation information (PDF, 255.05 KB).
Waiting lists
All oversubscribed Enfield schools have waiting lists. You can email the Admission Service at esas@enfield.gov.uk to get waiting list positions for the following schools:
- Ark John Keats Academy
- Aylward Academy
- Edmonton County School
- Enfield County School for Girls (these will be available after 17 March)
- Heron Hall Academy
- Highlands School
- Southgate School
- Winchmore School
- Wren Academy Enfield
When you email, please make sure you include your child’s full name and date of birth, or their application reference number.
You will need to contact the following schools directly for information about their waiting lists:
- Enfield Grammar School
- Kingsmead School
- St. Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls
The Latymer School have written directly to all families with a child on their waiting list.
If the school is outside Enfield, you will either need to contact the local authority in which the school is situated or the school directly. Information will be on the local authority’s website.
If you want your child to be considered for a school that was not one of your original preferences, or was a lower preference than the school offered, you will need to complete a ST2 form (PDF, 89.95 KB). You should email the completed form to esas@enfield.gov.uk by 15 March 2023.
Appeals
If your child was not offered a place at your preferred school, you can lodge an appeal against the decision.
Appeals for community schools are arranged by the appeal service. Academies, voluntary aided, foundation and free schools are responsible for their own appeal procedures.
It is likely that due to COVID restrictions, appeals will be held remotely.
For more information, see school admissions’ appeals.
Schools outside Enfield
If you’ve been unsuccessful with an application for a school outside of Enfield, you should contact the school or the borough the school is in for more information. They will be able to advise you about waiting list positions, and have information about why your application was unsuccessful. You will also be able to find information on their website.
