Enfield Council has announced the sad death of Councillor Chris Andrew this week (Tuesday 25 November).

Cllr Andrew died at the young age of 31 after battling cancer.

Enfield Council leader Mike Rye said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with Chris’s family and close friends at this very sad time.

“Chris Andrew had achieved a lot in a short time, being elected as a Councillor for Jubilee Ward in his early twenties and being selected on the list of Conservative Parliamentary candidates.

“Chris had great enthusiasm for supporting education and young people, being involved in significant work in this area in our scrutiny system.

“He was a governor of Cuckoo Hall Lane School and inordinately proud of the pupils and schools success.

“Politics and young people have lost a champion who should have gone on to make a difference on a bigger stage.”

Cllr Andrews was born on 21 April 1977.

He was elected as Councillor for Jubilee Ward in 2002.
