Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-10-14 10:44:37With a change of name, new buildings and new facilities Salisbury School in Turin Road, Edmonton has been transformed as Turin Grove School.
An £8.8m major building development was completed at the Turin Road site within a year and this has enabled all students from year seven to sixth form to enjoy the facilities.
By reducing the school numbers by some 350 from nine forms of entry to six, the school has become a smaller learning community of up to 1,000 students.
Cllr Glynis Vince, Enfield’s cabinet member for education, children’s services and youth, said, “Turin Grove is on the way to success. Thanks to the contractors who carried out the work so well and to the patience of the staff and students during the works programme, this is now a more manageable school community and everyone concerned is eager to produce excellent results in wonderful new surroundings.”
Among the new facilities, a new sports centre was completed earlier in the year. It has a six-court hall, new gymnasium, fitness room and changing facilities for indoor and outdoor activities.

The complex also includes a full-size floodlit all-weather pitch, and a smaller area for training and five-a-side football.
New laboratories, welfare facilities, staff room, classrooms, learning support spaces and additional art facilities, were completed in time for the beginning of the new Autumn Term.
Chairman of governors, Martin Cocks, said, “We are delighted that Turin Grove has a bright future and that it is fully supported by Enfield Council and the local community. We aim to offer a rounded education to all students and we now have excellent facilities for all ages and abilities.”
