Enfield’s libraries and museum commemorate and celebrate ‘Black History’ month with events across the borough.

Cllr Jon Kaye, cabinet member for leisure, culture and Olympics, said, “Black History month highlights and celebrates the achievements of the black community and an untold history. Throughout the month everyone can enjoy an interesting programme of free events in our libraries and a display at Forty Hall.”

60th Anniversary of the arrival of ‘Empire Windrush’

In 1948 the Empire Windrush arrived in Britain, carrying 492 passengers from Jamaica and Trinidad who had come to live and work in Britain. Since then Caribbean migrants have become a vital part of British society. This display illustrates what life was like for them in the late 1940s and 50s Britain.
