Business as usual for Salisbury House
Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-10-09 11:48:03Arts groups enjoy a new lease of life.
Over 40 local groups can now carry on with their arts pursuits at Salisbury House because Enfield Council has agreed to run the house after the collapse of the Enfield Arts Partnership.
The council owns Salisbury House in Bury Street West, Bush Hill Park, and was keen to see that it continues as a centre for a variety of arts and education groups.
Cllr Jon Kaye, cabinet member for leisure, culture and Olympics, said, ”Thanks must go to all the groups who enjoy Salisbury House and who have worked so hard with us to ensure that its future for them is secured.”
Arrangements have been made for cleaning and caretaking duties and groups manage their own affairs.
Joe Gay of the Southgate Society, said, “We are delighted with this outcome. It means that we can carry on enjoying our creative times at Salisbury House.”
