At their meeting on Wednesday 8th October, Enfield Council's cabinet members will decide on proposals to invest over £1.2 million refurbishing the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium and listed buildings in Donkey Lane, Enfield.
The recommendations come after extensive consultations over the last few months with local sports clubs, residents and interest groups.
A key proposal is to relay the athletics track for local clubs and schools to train and also to provide a home for Enfield Town FC.
Council leader, Mike Rye, said, “There is an option to share the stadium with a football club, which we hope will bring the glory days of successful non league football back to Enfield, however, this is for sure, there will be a rejuvenated athletics stadium and track.
"A revamped QE2 stadium will be a fantastic facility not only for the whole community but, along with Edmonton's UK Athletics Stadium, a perfect springboard for the borough's Olympic hopefuls to win gold for Britain in 2012."
