The Mayor’s Charity Fun Run 08
At 10am on Sunday, 14th September there’s a great opportunity to get fit and raise money for the mayor’s charities as the Fun Run at Forty Hall Park gets started.
There’s a 10km run for adults and those over the age of 16 and a 3km run for younger runners. Competitors of all ages and abilities can run, jog or walk their chosen course. There are medals for first, second and third, but it’s the taking part that counts.
Mayor Cllr Lee Chamberlain, says, ”Its great that so many people take part in the run and help raise funds for the charities. I am really looking forward to starting the race; there is always such a buzz at the event. With serious athletes and fun runners alike having a great time, I hope this year we will see more people than ever before taking part.”
The Mayor’s charities this year are the North London Hospice, the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust and the Enfield Talking newspaper providing news to the visually impaired.
The run attracts hundreds of people every year. Whether they are doing it for charity or simply trying to get fit and have fun at the same time, the run is a successful event for everyone - runners, spectators and the community.
Enfield’s sports development never failed in organising a fun day out for all the family. You don’t even have to be running to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good time.
It is great to see so many people of all abilities running for the mayor’s many charities. It gets bigger and better every year and hopefully this year is no exception.
Good luck to all who are participating.
