Paralympic Handover Event

Lee Valley Athletic Centre, Picketts Lock

Edmonton N9

As London becomes the new Olympic city, Enfield is celebrating at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre with a sensational handover event for the Paralympics.

To mark the handover of the Paralympics from Beijing to London, Enfield’s sports development team has put together a disability sports event designed for all ages and abilities.

Athletics, boccia, judo, football and table tennis are just a few of the many activities to try and there will be display sessions from gifted and talented athletes from past Paralympics and rising stars from Enfield’s highly successful sports disability team.

Cllr Jon Kaye, cabinet member for leisure, culture and Olympics, said, “This is a great showcase for the borough’s talent and a celebration in every way for sport in our borough.

“Sports clubs are particularly welcome and they will be able to find out how they can become inclusive clubs promoting their sport to all abilities. This event is packed with fun and activity – there’s so much to enjoy.”

During the event the Olympic Handover Flag will be taken from the Athletics Centre to the Civic Centre where an athlete and councillors from the council’s Olympic and Paralympic Working Group will raise the flag.
