Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-07-08 09:46:36ENFIELD Council has vowed to keep up the pressure on National Grid as it continues its major works in Enfield Town.
Phase 1 of the Road Works has been completed on schedule with Phase 2 well on the way to completion.

A small section of one lane near Ryman’s Church Street will continue to be closed this week until Phase 3 starts.
Councillor Terry Neville – cabinet member for environment said: “We recognise the disruption and inconvenience this will cause residents and motorists but
National Grid has insisted that these works are essential to the continued safety of the local gas supply.
“However as a Council we will keeping a very close eye on the situation and will be using all our powers to ensure these works are completed either before schedule or on time at least.”
Cllr Neville said motorists who use the Town as a through route to the A10 should seek alternative routes but stressed those wanting to shop in the Town had hundreds of parking spaces to make the most of.
He said: “With bus and train services running normally and around 1500 parking spaces available, Enfield Town is still very much open for business.”
But Cllr Neville warned motorists falling foul of parking restrictions would be dealt with strongly.
He said: “We want to keep traffic moving and as such, some on street parking will be reduced to facilitate the works. It means we will have to take a tough line on traffic offences.”
