An exciting opportunity to find out all about the dance industry is taking place at the Kingsmead School Theatre on Wednesday 8th October from 6pm – 8.30pm
Cllr Glynis Vince, said, “Over 100 GCSE and ‘A’ Level students are expected to attend the fair which will be an inspiring evening and a great deal of fun.”
At this first dance fair in the borough aspiring young dancers and dance lovers can find out about careers in dance – whether it is performing, directing or working backstage.
There is also an abundance of jobs in dance promotion and general theatre work dealing with people when they come to a show.
Iyshea McKay, who has organised this event for the Enfield Education Business Partnership, said, “So much goes into creating a production. It’s an exciting world where creative young people can thrive.
“At the fair we have engaged some of the top dance organisations in the country showing what they have to offer. I would encourage anyone interested in dance to come along for a fascinating evening.”
Jan Hickman, Enfield’s PE Adviser, said, “We have a great dance tradition in the borough and I really urge the bright talented young people that we have seen in our dance festivals, to go to the fair. There are real opportunities for them.”
Stalls will be distributing information, giving small presentations by industry professionals, providing an employer forum and performance by students.
Each exhibiting dance organisation will promote tours, workshops, auditions, courses events and productions.
Peter Lewis, director for education children’s services and leisure, added, “This fair shows just how much the Enfield Education Business Partnership is contributing to our plans to help youngsters aged from 14- 19 to consider careers in all kinds of work and to make it appealing.”
