Don’t miss your opportunity!

There are just two more chances to come to one of the key meetings which will be taking place during January, involving some of the highest profile people in Enfield involved in the prevention of crime and disorder, and they will be asking YOU what your priorities are for the borough.

Monday 28th January 2008 – 7.00pm till 9.00pm

Aylward School, Silver Street, Edmonton, N18 1NB

Thursday 31st January 2008 – 7.00pm till 9.00pm

Southgate College, High Street, Southgate, N14 6BS

Cllr Ertan Hurer, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and the Voluntary Sector said “What with the shocking murder of a teenager on Edmonton’s streets this week it is poignant that our next meeting is held at Aylward School which was close to where it happened.

“We want to work with the whole community to find out what your thoughts are about crime in the borough, and what issues you think council and police colleagues should concentrate on.

"Do you think that violent crimes are dealt with appropriately? What can we do to reduce gang culture? We need to know your views."

The events, which will be open to the public, will involve Rob Leak, Chief Executive of Enfield Council, Chief Superintendent Adrian Hanstock, Cllr Ertan Hurer, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and the Voluntary Sector and Phil Butler, Borough Commander for the Fire Service amongst others.

These authorities, which include Enfield Council, the police, fire service, NHS and other groups all make up the Safer and Stronger Communities Board (SSCB). The Board has written a community safety plan which looks at different types of crime, anti social behaviour and substance misuse, and says what we, and our partners, plan to do to tackle the issues.
