In the second week of term Ofsted inspectors judged the school to be very successful with many outstanding features.
This was soon followed with an award for Financial Management Standards in School from the government making Prince of Wales the first primary school in Enfield to be recognised for efficient financial management.
For its successful work with schools in other countries, Prince of Wales was among a small group of schools gaining nthe international schools award From the British Council. Veteran BBC news reporter, George Alagiah, presented the award at a ceremony at the Brewery Conference Centre in the City.
Following this, the school was one of the first two schools in Enfield to receive the national Inclusion Quality Mark for its work in meeting the diverse needs of all their pupils.
And for the third successive year the school was awarded the national Basic Skills Quality Mark for its drive to improve standards in literacy and numeracy.
Head teacher, Carmel Moore, said, “We were delighted with the recognition from Ofsted and I have to thank all my staff, governors, parents and children for their hard work and support. In every aspect of school life we are determined to make great strides.”
Cllr Glynis Vince, cabinet member for education, children’s services and youth, said, “Just one of these achievements would be worthy of great praise – but to achieve so much in one term goes to show just how determined the staff and pupils are. Their recognition is well deserved.”
Peter Lewis, director of education, children’s services and leisure, said, “These are impressive achievements. Prince of Wales is a larger-than-average primary school serving a culturally diverse area of Enfield where social circumstances are much less favourable than many other parts of the country.
“Well done - everyone concerned with the school is contributing to making it great for teaching and learning.”
