Paramount Panels, who make panels for aeroplanes, will join Greggs The Bakers, JJ Foods and Fortuna Health and others, to discuss how industry and business can reduce packaging.
Councillor Terry Neville – cabinet member for environment said, “Enfield is ideally placed to tackle this issue.
“Enfield is in an enviable position as a borough with large manufacturing, production and distribution industries, so it is appropriate that the Council, in its community role takes a lead.
“Overpackaging is disastrous for the environment and an unnecessary expense for consumers, retailers and manufactures.
“I want to see real outcomes from this meeting which will result in less packaged goods in the high street.”
The packaging summit will take place on 26 February at Enfield Council’s Civic Centre.
It will look at packaging design, how it companies can reduce packaging, control their waste and increase their business recycling.
Keynote speakers from Envirowise, Middlesex University, Enfield Council’s London Trading Standards and Enfield Council’s Waste Services will join Cllr Neville at the summit.
