Council urges residents to get involved in crucial consultations
Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-01-23 11:04:26ENFIELD Council’s enviro chief has urged residents to respond to a series of consultations on the Council’s new Local Development Framework, which will be crucial to the future of the borough.
Cllr Terry Neville – cabinet member for environment said: “These consultations will shape the development and destiny of the borough well into the century and it’s crucial residents get involved and have their say.”
The consultations cover a range of issues including climate change, the environment, housing, services, employment, town centres, townscape and travel.
The Local Development Framework (LDF), which underpins the Council’s pioneering new Place Shaping initiatives. As part of the LDF the Core Strategy, launced next month sets out policies and programmes for new homes, shops and businesses, improved transport systems and better employment prospects.
Also to be launched next month as part of the LDF will be the Central Leeside Joint Action Plan and North East Enfield Action PlanAnd launched this week is the North London Waste Plan which aims to ensure that appropriate sites are identified for the wide range of waste facilities needed to manage waste produced in North London.
Cllr Neville said: The Council’s Place Shaping initiatives aim to ensure the future prosperity and economic sustainability of the borough while conserving the borough’s heritage and enhancing the environment.
“Change is inevitable but it is in our hands how that change is shaped – getting involved in this process is not an option for residents – it’s a must.”
The LDF and area action plans and waste strategy will be published on the Council’s website next month on:http://consultation.limehouse.co.uk/enfield .
Residents will be where the able comment on-line. There will also be a series of events held for residents and businesses.
