Enfield Homes plays tribute to Welcome Point heroes
Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-05-30 10:58:57This week Litsa Worrell, Chair of Enfield Homes, played tribute to the fast response and joint working which ensured that when much loved community centre ‘Welcome Point’ caught fire on the 27th April swift action was taken.

Within hours representatives from Enfield Homes, FECA (Federation of Enfield Community Associations), and Enfield Council were on site to access the damage and offer support.
Within 48 hours portacabins were delivered to the site to allow community groups to continue to use the area, this was particularly difficult as many companies require notice to supply these.
In addition the toilets in the original Welcome Point Hall were cleaned up, and a walkway established so that users of the portacabins could use the facilities when visiting the site. This eliminated the use of temporary toilets.
Litsa said “This unfortunate incident brought out the very best in the whole community, and showed excellent partnership working between residents, FECA and officers which led to services being resumed in a very short time. This sets the standard we expect at Enfield Homes.
“On behalf of Enfield Homes I would like to thank everyone involved for their assistance in this emergency, particularly Mark Bellas from FECA and Brian Gormley from Enfield Homes, who worked tirelessly to make sure services to residents were disrupted as little as possible.
“Many local groups rely on Welcome Point Hall. I know there are karate clubs, church and children’s groups and many other sections of the community that regularly use the hall. There are not many facilities in this area that people could use in the meantime, so it was imperative that we sorted this out as quickly as possible. It was an excellent response.”
