ENFIELD COUNCIL is offering a £500 reward for information leading to the arrest of suspected flytippers.

The Council is asking for the public's help to identify four flytippers caught on a covert CCTV dumping truckloads of building waste.

The men returned to the same Edmonton location on two consecutive nights in March and were caught in the act by the surveillance cameras set up by the authority’s pioneering Enviro Crime Team.

On both occasions a white Mercedes van registration believed to be BT02 YTH was used in connection with the offence.

Alan Shaw, Enfield Council’s head of enviro crime said: "Someone knows who these people are. The people who commit these crimes show a wanton disregard for the law and our city.

“Enfield Council will take the strongest possible legal action against these individuals if they can be traced.”

Enfield Councillor Terry Neville – cabinet member for environment said: “Enfield Council takes a zero tolerance approach to all forms of environmental crime.

“We have invested millions of Council Taxpayers money into preserving and enhancing Enfield’s environment and we will not tolerate anyone selfish enough who thinks they have the right to dump their rubbish on our streets.”

Flytipping carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment and an unlimited fine if tried in the Crown Court.
