Council offers reward to bag a tagger
Date and Time of Publication:- 2008-06-03 11:54:56ENFIELD Council is offering residents up to £1000 to shop graffiti vandals as part of its war on grime crime.

Dozens of posters will be displayed throughout the borough this week urging residents to contact the council with information leading to a successful prosecution of so-called graffiti artists.
Enfield Councillor Terry Neville – cabinet member for environment said the council was determined to wipe graffiti and enviro crime out of Enfield.
He said: “Enfield Council spends hundreds of thousands of pounds of hard working council taxpayers money cleaning graffiti off walls in our borough so a £1000 reward is worth every penny if we can catch even one of these taggers.”
Although some say graffiti as some kind of art form this view not shared by the Council.
Take Russell Hart of Enfield Council’s waste services point of view.
He said: “I know some people think that graffiti is an example of urban youth exercising their right to self expression, but frankly I and I believe the vast majority of our residents will think that is complete rubbish.
“If someone wants to express themselves then they should sell their paintings or drawings to anyone who is interested but they should not inflict their art on the rest of us – it’s arrogant to think you have the right to spray your tag all over the place.”
If you have any information on a known graffiti vandal and would like to claim your reward of a £1000 call Enfield Council on 020 8379 1000 and ask to speak to the enviro crime team.
