Business as usual as library moves

Enfield Town Library is moving to the first floor of Thomas Hardy House while the current library building is being refurbished. It is expected to be there until 2010.

The library in Cecil Road will close to visitors at 5pm on Sunday 20th April and will reopen in Thomas Hardy House at 9.30am on Thursday 1st May.

During the closure, items can be borrowed, returned or renewed at any of Enfield’s 14 other libraries.

A mobile library will also operate adjacent to Cecil Road library on:

Monday 21st April 2pm- 6pm

Thursday 24th April 2pm – 6pm

Saturday 26th April 9am – 5pm

Library services can also be accessed online from home. Renew and request items, check your loans, search the catalogue and access online information through the 24 hour virtual library: www.enfield.gov.uk/24hourlibrary.

Extended library opening hours at Thomas Hardy House mean that from 1st May, you can visit the library seven days a week including 12noon - 4pm on Sundays. Existing library services continue at Thomas Hardy House offering:

books, DVDs, CDs, bookable PCs with 1 hour free internet, children’s library and information

Cllr Paul McCannah, said, “This temporary move ensures that we are able to offer an excellent library service during the refurbishment at Cecil Road – and I hope that many more people will discover all the new and exciting developments as we improve our Central Library.”
