Penguins coming to Enfield streets soon

Everyone loves penguins – and no more so than Enfield Council as a new major advertising campaign starts this week persuading residents in the borough to pay their council tax by direct debit.
Standing in line in the cold, a column of shivering penguins appear with the simple strapline above their heads ‘Why wait?’

This beautifully photographed and amusing poster campaign is the first in a series promoting direct debit as the best way to make regular council tax payments. Currently on view in council offices it hits the streets in June on poster sites throughout Enfield.
Cllr Michael Lavender, cabinet member for finance, said, “It’s important that people pay their council tax and the most efficient way is by direct debit.
“We want to get this message across to as many people as possible – it really is the best way to ensure that regular payments are made on time – and in the long run it helps us save on administrative costs. Most of all, direct debit brings peace of mind knowing that the bill is being paid.”
The penguin campaign is going up at the same time as another promotion advising people on small incomes that they can get help towards their council tax. It features a toucan with the message ‘Small income – big bills’ and goes on to explain that help is at hand for those who need it.
