Enfield Council is marking the 7th Holocaust Memorial Day with a special showing of two films to illustrate this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day theme; ‘The Dignity of Difference’. Later in the week there is an event at the Civic Centre on Saturday 27th January from 6pm – 8pm.
Holocaust Memorial Day is an international day commemorating the liberation by Soviet soldiers on 27th January 1945, of prisoners held in the notorious concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland.
Prisoners in Auschwitz and other camps were the victims of the Nazi regime that persecuted and murdered people because they were different.
Holocaust Memorial Day asks us to reflect on this and see how we can learn from it by respecting and celebrating our differences.
