Budget proposals are scrutinised
Date and Time of Publication:- 2007-01-11 12:29:31Council Leader, Mike Rye and Deputy Leader, Cllr Michael Lavender are preparing to meet scrutiny panel members at a special meeting to thrash out proposals for the coming budget and council tax in the next financial year.
At 7pm on Tuesday 16th January in the Conference Room at the Civic Centre, chairmen of all the council’s scrutiny panels will challenge and question the proposals set out in the Council’s Budget Consultation for 2007/08.
Members of the public too can ask questions and express their views at this meeting before the final council tax is set on Wednesday 21st February.
Council Leader, Mike Rye, said, ”We owe it to the people of Enfield and our hardworking scrutiny panels to answer questions and ensure that we give this matter the fullest consultation. I am pleased that so many people have taken part in the budget process for the coming year.”
Commission chairman, Cllr Edward Smith, added, “Scrutiny is a vital part of the democratic process providing us with a chance to weigh up the evidence and make informed decisions and recommendations. All our scrutiny panel chairmen will want to ask questions on the issues that affect their areas of responsibility.”
