Have we got our strategy right on homelessness

Published Tuesday, 24 September 2013

Enfield Council has a new draft strategy to help prevent and tackle homelessness over the next five years. Before it can become the final strategy the Council wants the public’s views to make sure we have got it right

The public is invited to comment on the plans which are set out in the draft document on the council’s website. The draft homelessness strategy sets out:

• The council’s vision and ambitions for tackling and preventing homelessness over the next five years;
• The legal and policy context in which the council delivers its services for tackling homelessness;
• A summary of the comprehensive review of homelessness in Enfield over the last five years;
• An action plan for tackling homelessness in Enfield over the next five years.

Cllr Ahmet Oykener, Cabinet member for Housing, said, “We want as many people as possible to let us know their views. They can do this on the council’s website, or get a printed survey from local libraries, the Civic Centre and other public buildings.

“The consultation started 29 August and runs until 25th October. It is important to get this right and the public can help us to do it. We want a strategy that reflects the ideas and views of local people and one that will work to prevent homelessness.”
