New scholarships for high-flyers

Published Thursday, 31 October 2013

Enfield students applying to Middlesex University for entry in the autumn of 2015 will have a chance of being awarded one of five £6,000 cash scholarships.

This important announcement is being made during the annual High Achievers’ Evening on Thursday 7 November at the Lea Valley High School, celebrating the young people who have worked hard to be among the highest achievers in national examinations and community activities.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Children & Young People, said, “Enfield Council’s special enrichment programme is designed to stretch and stimulate gifted and talented pupils giving them the confidence to become high achievers and to go on to a university education.

“We are indebted to Middlesex University for this generous support for five outstanding students. The council is keen to ensure that Enfield’s young people take full advantage of this great opportunity.”

Marta Topornicka, Head of Recruitment Relationships at Middlesex University added, “At Middlesex we recognise, encourage and reward academic achievement and community involvement. We want to support our local students who work exceptionally hard.”

To stand a chance of being awarded one of these scholarships, students will need to select Middlesex as their first university choice, achieve 320 University and College Admissions Service points and have a good record of academic success and community engagement.
