Christmas hygiene advice

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…a night out at a lovely clean restaurant

Enfield Council is marking its very own 12 days of Christmas by singing the praises of a dozen of the cleanest restaurants in the borough.

The initiative is part of a scheme to raise awareness of the National Food Hygiene Rating Schemes, run by the Food Standards Agency which is an online portal where people can see for themselves how hygienic their local restaurant or takeaway is. Customers are encouraged to view the ratings of premises before they eat there. These are available here and there is also a free application to download too.

All the premises named have been either consistently achieved 4 or a 5 rating  over their last two or three inspections meaning they are shining examples of how hygiene should be promoted.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said: “Christmas is the time to eat drink and be merry, but it’s very difficult to be jolly when you are suffering from food poisoning so we are encouraging residents to check out the places they plan to eat in the coming weeks to make sure they take hygiene and the welfare of their customers seriously.

“Enfield Council is absolutely committed to improving standards of hygiene in the borough and we’re working with all our zero rated restaurants to give them the help and guidance they need to improve their performance. The people on this list, are a shining example of “how to do” good hygiene they deserve to reap the commercial rewards from selling good quality food out of hygienic premises.”
