Enfield Council raises a glass to drink campaign

Enfield Council’s public health team have launched a new campaign urging everyone to stop and think about drink.

drink campaign

The ‘Don’t let drink sneak up on you’ initiative, which is part of a national campaign, has been created to remind everyone that sometimes a glass or two of wine, or a couple of pints of beer in the evenings or weekend can quickly add up, leading to health problems if we are not careful.

Cllr Christine Hamilton, Cabinet member for Community Wellbeing and Public Health said “Christmas and New Year celebrations are only just around the corner, and at this time we may drink more alcohol than we realise.

“We are just asking people to stop and think about how much alcohol they are drinking, and whether they should cut back a little for the sake of their health. Maybe substitute one of two alcoholic drinks for a tasty soft alternative, and ask themselves whether they drink because they feel they have to drink?

“There are a number of organisations who can help anyone who feels they have a problem with alcohol and do need help to cut back or even stop completely. Advice is free and confidential.”
