Fantastic Fun Run shines for 2013

Published Tuesday, 17 September 2013

Over 1000 runners inspired by the Olympic Games gathered together in Forty Hall Park on Sunday for the Mayor’s Charity Fun Run to have a great day out, and raise money for charity.

The annual Fun Run was organised by Enfield Council in support of the Mayor’s Charity, and was sponsored by Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The winner of the men's 10k race was Matthew Woodman, who came in at 35 minutes and 41 seconds while his female counterpart, Sharon Rider, completed the course in 45 minutes and three seconds.

In the 3km boy’s race Joseph Young finished the course in 10 minutes and 22 seconds while Jade Dos Santos won the girl’s race in 10 minutes and 57 seconds.

This year chipped timers were given out to all runners who took part which allowed the finish and results service to be more efficient.

Money raised by the Fun Runs and the Family Fun Day will support the Mayor of Enfield’s chosen charities.

The Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Chaudhury Anwar said “This year’s Fun Run was a fantastic success; over 1000 people came and had a wonderful time.

“Congratulations to the winners, and everyone who took part. Not only was it a wonderful day but money was being raised for good causes as well”.

Prizes for this year included vouchers for Spurs goodies, Toby Carvery meals, a Capel Manor annual pass, Fusion vouchers and fitness sessions.

All competitors received a free T-shirt.
