The project means that valuable staff who may otherwise have been lost are retained by the council in alternative roles and can continue to provide residents with an excellent service in different parts of the council.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Andrew Stafford, said: “We want to balance cutting our costs while retaining staff wherever we can and so we are absolutely committed to redeploying staff into new roles where they can help improve our services and improve resident’s quality of life.”

The  staff who  have been redeployed  have  received extensive one to one support, development and training to help them make the transition into a new team quickly and easily.

The council also has a redeployee of the year award and offers extensive help to people at risk of redundancy to help them learn new skills and adapt to new environments and cultures. With support including interviewing training and psychometric testing to improve job matches .

Cllr Stafford said: “Ultimately we have hundreds of excellent people working for the council, and wherever possible we want to retain them  if they are unfortunate enough to have their jobs deleted.”
