Planning improvement to avoid special measures

Published Monday, 05 August 2013

Enfield Council's Planning Team is set to avoid being placed under special measures after significantly improving its performance in the first quarter of 2013, new figures show.

The Government recently told local authorities that they would at risk of being placed in special measures if they failed to determine 30 per cent of "major" planning applications between July 2011 and June 2013 to deadline.

Current figures show Enfield Council has determined 25 of the 60 major applications by deadline (or 41.67%) and is therefore well above the government target.

Further data released by Enfield Council also shows that for the first quarter of 2013, Enfield Council is exceeding government targets for determining planning applications in every category (Major - 60%, Minor 65% and Other - 80%), determining 66.67 per cent of Major, 78.17 per cent of Minor and 91.34 per cent of Other to deadline.
