Waltham Forest and Enfield Councils have been celebrating their joint win in scooping the Team of the Year Award at the National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards.

The Shared Procurement Service set up by the two authorities was honoured at an event held on 25 April at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. The National GO Awards recognise public sector procurement excellence and celebrates the UK’s thriving business community.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, Cllr Andrew Stafford,  said: “It’s a real pat on the back for all the hard work I know the team have been doing to ensure we get value for money. This gives us a great platform to build upon for the future and to further enhance our offering to customers.”

Councillor Mark Rusling, Waltham Forest Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Corporate Resources, said, “This award is a credit to the teams in Enfield and Waltham Forest and recognises the fact that by coming together both boroughs have benefited from an increased pool of procurement expertise and a unified approach to procurement systems and category management."

Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of GO, said of the Awards, “Each finalist represents an organisation that has invested into change and been prepared to challenge itself and others to do things better.

“We have finalists from across the UK, with local government, devolved government, health, housing, education, police and transport among the many areas represented – and as impressive as the number of organisations involved is the diversity of the projects they have undertaken.”
