Rapid progress makes school outstanding

Published Monday, 08 April 2013

Worcesters Primary school in Enfield is ‘outstanding’ in every way. This is the conclusion of an Ofsted inspection team that visited the school in March this year.

Staff at Worcesters worked extremely hard to improve all aspects of the school’s work since the previous inspection in May 2011 when it was judged to be satisfactory

Headteacher, Karen Jaeggi, who joined the staff in February 2011, said, “With Enfield Council’s support and the full backing of governors, staff and parents, Worcesters has gone from strength to strength. I am so proud of the children who have responded so well. They are polite, hardworking and have a genuine desire for knowledge. It is so satisfying to lead a school like this.”

The inspectors examined: pupil achievement; quality of teaching; behaviour and safety of pupils; and leadership and management. They found the school to be ‘outstanding’ across all areas of its work and overall effectiveness is equally ‘outstanding’.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for children and young people, said, “Worcesters has earned this well-deserved success. The school is a model of excellence and this is reflected in the Ofsted report. I congratulate all the children, staff, governors and parents.”

Progress has been rapid and exceptionally effective. The Ofsted report states that ‘School leaders and managers have skilfully led the school through rapid and sustained improvement since the last inspection.

“Their accurate, consistent and rigorous tracking has successfully developed the quality of teaching, which is securing high levels of progress for all learners across the school.”

The team also found that ‘The behaviour of all pupils in the school is exemplary, “and note that,  “… parents and carers praise the school and are happy that their children are safe, well motivated and making excellent progress.”
