Published Friday, 08 March 2013

Nominations for entries into a competition designed to promote, nurture and encourage businesses and social enterprises in Enfield are being sought before this month's closing date.

The Enfield Innovation competition, funded by the Council, is in its fourth year during which it has helped new businesses, products and social enterprises take root throughout the borough. It is run as collaboration between the North London Chamber of Commerce and redloop the mdx design and innovation centre which is part of Middlesex University.

Entries are sought in the Trading Business, Start-Up, Social Enterprise and School/College Innovating Enfield categories and the winners will win prizes ranging from cash, scholarships and the opportunity to work with innovation experts.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Business and Regeneration, Cllr Del Goddard, said: "We want to work with people in the borough and help encourage and reward fantastic and innovative business ideas in Enfield.
"Enfield was at the heart of innovation with household inventions such as dishwashers, the cash machine, televisions and the filament light bulbs. This competition aims to restimulate that as a way of helping to promote business and will encourage new and different ways of doing business. That can only be a positive thing to help improve the borough's economy in the longer term, create jobs and help build a stronger more diverse business community in our borough."
