Secondary School preferences tip 96%

Published Tuesday, 05 March 2013

Over 96% of Enfield children, whose parents applied by the deadline, have been offered a place at one of their preferred secondary schools.

Along with all partners Enfield Council worked hard to ensure parents in Enfield were sent their information on National Offer Day, 1st March, 2013.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Cabinet Member for Schools and Young People, said, “We have sufficient school places in Enfield for every child transferring from primary to secondary schools this year.

“All London authorities, together with Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Thurrock exchanged information about applications to each other’s schools and worked together to reduce the number of children receiving multiple offers.

“ Enfield ’s admissions team dealt with 3,757 applications that were sent in on time. 3,625 children have been offered one of their preferred schools.

“Where it was not possible to offer a place at one of the schools asked for, the council has still been able to make an offer of an alternative school in the borough.”
