Christmas all wrapped up at Forty Hall

Published Thursday, 20 December 2012

Christmas is around the corner and Forty Hall and Estate is the perfect place to spend the winter holidays with family or friends! Make your memories this festive period at this magical place.

This year has been a remarkable year for Forty Hall, having reopened its doors to the public in June following a successful renovation project funded by Enfield Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.   Since then the Hall has welcomed over 17,000 visitors from across the borough, and international visitors as far away as New Zealand.

More than 80 volunteers and work experience students have been recruited to help stage two highly successful and well-attended events in the housewarming and the Rainton Pageant. The Hall has also hosted its first beautiful wedding, and welcomed more than 200 local schoolchildren to its new education programme.

Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said "The reopening of Forty Hall this year has been a remarkable success, and the development of services, the hires, education programme and events continues to build upon this success.  The festive holidays represents a great opportunity to visit Forty Hall if you have not been able to do so already – or even if you are a repeat visitor.   With the Hall open throughout the holidays, including Boxing Day and New Years Day, it is the perfect place to unwind with family and friends.

"Forty Hall and Estate’s support of local businesses also sets a precedent for the promotion of Enfield’s creative industries.  The Hall is a much-loved community resource and it is only right that artists have the opportunity to showcase their work in this magnificent building."

Attractions include walking off the Christmas indulgence with a walk around the parkland, the Hall's permanent exhibition telling the story of Forty Hall & Estate, enjoying the children's trails and the magnificent decorated tree in the Inner Courtyard as well as the gift shop and Courtyard Café.

The Hall will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and on the first full week of January for cleaning and maintenance.
