No cold calling zones

Published Monday, 12 November 2012

Stay safe from cold calling rogues and say NO to doorstep traders.

  • No cold calling zones are there to try to prevent unwanted cold callers and to empower residents to have the confidence to turn callers away from their premises.
  • It is not illegal to cold call, even in a No Cold Calling Zone, the zones are a visible way in which to highlight to cold callers that residents have decided they do not want callers in their area.
  • You do not have to let anyone into your home. Trading Standards advice is to say "no" to all doorstop callers.
  • If you wish to report a suspicious incident of cold calling then call Citizens Advice (CA) on 0845 04 05 06, who will report the matter to trading standards.
  • For any urgent matters call the Police on 999.
  • Enfield has set up a number of "No Cold Calling Zones" across the borough to try and deter cold callers from approaching residents who live in that zone. The Zones can not totally ban cold callers but do hopefully act as a deterrent for residents.

More information on No Cold Calling Zones can be found on the Trading Standards Institute website.
