Published Tuesday, 22 September 2009

Date – Thursday 24th September 2009 Time – 5.00pm Venue – Croyland Youth Centre, Croyland Road, London, N9

The national Month of Peace, September, saw a number of activities take place within Enfield to highlight the harmony between the various faiths and religions. A number of organisations opened their doors and allowed residents to see for themselves what each religion had to offer.

To round up the Month of Peace in Enfield, young people have also designed a unique wall at Croyland Road Youth Centre which carries special messages of peace, including quotes, from influential people. Thursday sees its special unveiling.

It has been designed by young people from the Centre, many of whom live in Edmonton. This has been supported by Enfield Council's Community Safety Unit, and the Enfield Hate Crime Forum.

Suj Ponnampalam, Enfield Council's Hate Crime Coordinator said "The September Month of Peace gave everyone a chance to visit different places of faith, and to meet other cultures to find out more about people's lives.

"This unique Wall of Peace is a visual and lasting symbol of the thoughts of not only the young people of Enfield, but of various other important people that have inspired them".
