‘A’ Level success continues in Enfield

Published Tuesday, 21 August 2012

This year’s ‘A’ level results demonstrate that young people in Enfield schools are once again performing well with 51.3% of passes at grades A*, A or B.

From the returns received so far, 98.3% of the A Levels entered by Enfield school students resulted in a pass which is 0.3% higher than the national result this year and 0.5% higher than 2011.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools and children’s services, said, “Enfield’s school students can be very proud of their achievement which demonstrates just how well they are doing.

“These results hold up very well against national trends and our students and their teachers are to be congratulated. I wish them all every success.”

Andrew Fraser, director for schools and children’s services, added, “This is an excellent result. It reflects the hard work and application made by students and teachers and I wish them all the very best for continued success.”

A detailed study of the results shows that:

  • the points per entry for Enfield is an improvement on last year;
  • the overall percentage pass rate, the percentage of A*s and the percentage of As are all higher than the national percentages at this point;
  • 13 out of 17 schools have increased their average points per entry from last year. It is expected that when the results other qualifications are added in this number will increase;
  • Enfield is ahead of the national trend achieving an increase in passes whereas nationally there has been a slight fall.
