Enfield Council hits out at Olympic scrooges

Published Friday, 17 August 2012

Mindless vandals who wrecked Olympic themed flower beds have been condemned by Enfield Council.

The flower beds in Chase Green Park, Broomfield Park and Pymmes Park were designed by school children but vandalised soon after they were installed. Luckily Enfield Council was on hand to repair the damage and restore the flowerbeds to their former glory.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said "At a time when the whole country is getting behind Team GB and its brilliant athletes, its an absolute disgrace that mindless cretins have vandalised Olympic themed flower beds carefully designed by school children.

"If anyone has any information about this act of wanton destruction, we'd urge them to call the police so we can bring these idiots to book."

The raised flower beds were installed to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games being held in London and featured the 2012 motif and medals when originally planted. The vandalism comes hot on the heels of the theft of bedding plants from Durants Park.
