Olympic Campers warned - Stay off our land

Published Tuesday, 17 July 2012

Enfield Council is warning campers and caravanners they will be moved on and potentially fined if they try to stay overnight in the borough's parks during the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The ban on camping and caravanning overnight is being reinforced by the installation of signs in all the borough's parks.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said: "We're not being killjoys, we just don't want large-scale unauthorised campsites popping up all over the borough.

"The Olympics are nearly here but we want to allow everyone to enjoy our parks. We'd rather people who want to camp during that period use one of the many registered campsites dotted in and around London instead of turn up unannounced in Enfield and wreck our beautiful open spaces - which really don't have the facilities campers need and deserve."
