Enterprising students pitch their business ideas

Enfield Grammar School’s first ‘Dragons’ Den’ competition reaches its climax this week when 20 students aged from 11- 18 present their ideas to dragons: Enfield’s Mayor, Cllr Kate Anolue; Keith Barnfield, a school governor; and Leonika Phillips, personnel manager at Waitrose Enfield.

Eamonn Casey, head of vocational education, said, “This competition attracted over 40 entries of an exceptionally high standard. Those who have made it past the early stages will meet the dragons in 15 minute time sessions.

“Perfect sportsmen, summer fruit market and travel technology are just a few of the ideas to be scrutinised by the dragons. It will be a fascinating morning for all of us.”

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools and children’s services, said, “This is a novel way to encourage young people to be enterprising with good ideas which can be developed further. I congratulate all the contenders and their teacher on this creative project.”
