Apprenticeships made easy

Published Wednesday, 04 July 2012

Businesses in Enfield have been invited to a breakfast event organised by Enfield Council, designed to show them the benefits of supporting youth employment and training in the Borough.

They will gain first-hand advice on recruiting apprentices, offering work experience and will receive information about the range of grants and support available for companies who sign up.

The event on 5 July will see businesses offered specialist support to recruit an apprentice or develop their own apprenticeship scheme. Currently there are grants available starting from £1,500 per apprentice recruited. Business leaders will also be able to find out more about working with the Council and how both they and young people would benefit from an apprenticeship or work placement.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Business and Regeneration, Cllr Del Goddard, said: "More than 2.5 million people are out of work at the moment and Enfield Council has a responsibility to do everything it can to help residents find jobs, work experience or training that will help them secure employment".

"This event will highlight to employers the benefits of recruiting young local talented people into apprenticeships and jobs within their organisations."

This event is being delivered in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service, local providers, Job Centre Plus, the North London Chamber of Commerce and Enfield Council.
