Enfield Council is offering free sports sessions during Men’s Health Week to encourage residents to live a healthier lifestyle.

From Monday 11 June to Sunday 17 June, Enfield Council’s Everybody Active Team is offering 18 free sports taster sessions to celebrate Men’s Health Week. Activities include favourites such as football and swimming, or men can try something different like Tai Chi/ Qi Gong or Zumba.

National Men’s Health Week was first held in 2002 to raise awareness of a number of different areas related to men’s health. The focus of this year’s campaign is healthy hearts.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure, Cllr Bambos Charalambous said: “We want men to take greater care of their hearts by getting up off the couch and doing more exercise. Active people live longer and have a better quality of life, so adopting a healthier lifestyle by taking up one of the fun activities on offer is a great idea.

"Almost 50,000 men in the UK die each year due to heart disease. We hope these taster sessions help protect men in Enfield from heart disease, and their families from physical and emotional heartbreak."

Sessions take place at locations across the borough and can be booked by ringing the Enfield Council Sports Bookings Team on 020 8379 3762.
