The Pymmes Brook Trail: Sunday 29th April '12

Guided Walks

Meet 10.00am outside the Pymmes Park Visitor Centre, Pymmes Park, Edmonton N18 2UG (approx 2.30pm finish).

The Parks Service's award-winning Guided Walks Programme began in October 2005, and sadly ends this Sunday with the Pymmes Brook Trail. This 7 1/2 -mile walk follows the course of Pymmes Brook from Pymmes Park in Edmonton, exploring some beautiful parks of Enfield and Barnet, then on to Jack's Lake at Monken Hadley Common - and finishing at the historic Trent Country Park. Bring a packed lunch. Plan your return trip before attending (Cockfosters Tube nearby, then a 34 bus from Arnos Grove to return to Pymmes Park). Wear stout footwear and weatherproof clothing.  No fee.  No need to book.

Over the years, this programme has helped raise awareness for both residents and visitors alike of one of the reasons why Enfield is a great place to live and work: it's extraordinary variety and abundance of parks, open spaces and countryside.  Participants have discovered the wonderful nature and incredible history that lies just beyond their own doorstep; have found out about our incredible country parks as well as our little gems hidden away off the beaten track; have learned survival skills and about foods that can be found in the wild; have learned about, and how to track, the diverse wildlife that live in our parks and countryside; and have even discovered about our evening wildlife, including how to detect bats; have learned some startling local history, including about the key role that Trent Park played in winning the intelligence war against Nazism; have learned the history of the Royal Enfield Chase; and have learned about our waterways, explored ancient woodlands and roamed our stunning green belt countryside.

Take part in a Guided Walk that marks the end of an era this Sunday.
