A Clean Sweep for Enfield Council

Street cleaning machines improve standards of cleaning across the Borough.

Enfield Council has unveiled three shiny new street cleaning machines designed to improve standards of cleaning across the borough and enable streets to be swept more rapidly.

The borough has taken possession of a compact pavement sweeper and two scarab road sweeping vehicles which will enable the Council to sweep roads two or three times a week rather than once or twice as they are currently. They also produce lower emissions than the vehicles they are replacing and will save the council money in maintenance costs.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Chris Bond, said: "The new machines are cyclist friendly, the driver being able to see easily both sides of the van as well as the rear. They will help us keep the borough cleaner, reduce emissions and save us money in maintenance costs.

"Our streets are already amongst the cleanest in London and these new vehicles will help us improve further and help us achieve our aim of becoming the cleanest borough in the capital."
