Parents urged to claim free school meals

Enfield Council is urging all parents who may be eligible, to register for free school meals before the 16th January.
Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools and childrens services, said, There are just a few days left to register for free school meals and we do not want anyone to miss out.
Parents can save £380 a year for each child having a healthy tasty lunch which is providing the balanced nutrition to help them learn.
"In addition, just registering for free school meals if you are eligible means your child's school will receive more funding from the government.
Kosher, hallal or vegetarian options are available and registration is easy. Parents can sign up once a year at their childrens schools, contact Enfields pupil benefits service on 020 8379 5367 or complete a form on the councils website at http://www.enfield.gov.uk/
Parents or carers who receive one of the following benefits are eligible for free school meals:
Income support
Income-based jobseekers allowance
Employment & support allowance
Assisted as an asylum seeker
Child tax credit only and annual income of £16,190
Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
